Take the Space is a creative production hub for Black and multi-ethnic talent to invent, play and discover new stories, new work and new perspectives
Take the Space is a home for BAME talent to invent, play and discover - new stories, new talent and new perspectives.
Designed to enable talent to grow, Take the Space aims to support the embedding of the Black British cultural voice as a part, rather than apart from UK cultural life. With digital at its core, the programme responds to the globalisation of the black perspective, providing a voice of cultural leadership that tells the unique story of the UK’s heritage; diverse, dynamic and multi-perspective.
Along with our commissioning partners, we provide creative opportunities for hundreds of minority ethnic artists every year through platform events, festivals, commissions, artist events and performance.
We work with a range of partners on projects around strategic diversity planning be that recruitment and retention planning; policy development; organisational evaluation, knowledge sharing or research.
Take the Space Productions is an inspiration space for black creative talent, built on principles of collaboration, sharing of resources and the inter-connectivity between maker, producer and audience. TTS seeks to build mutually beneficial spaces and in doing so, we collaborate with a range of partners from local businesses to academics; individual artists to institutions.
Our producing vision is to seek out, invest in and grow platforms and opportunities for black talent to flourish; responding to ideas, passion and artistic drive to make work happen. The consultancy has raised over £3.5m for projects ranging from individual funding for work for £10K through to major national projects of over £600K through to festivals, artist commissions, retreats and residencies and region-wide partnerships.
